Disinfecting Disinformation

How to sanitise slopagaanda before it spreads

The information environment has entered a new phase. AI-generated content, deepfakes, synthetic voices and automated influence campaigns are making it easier than ever to create convincing falsehoods at scale.

Alongside these comes a growing flood of low-quality AI-generated material – often described as slop – designed to overwhelm, distract and erode confidence rather than persuade through evidence. Together they create what many are beginning to recognise as Slopaganda.

Periods of heightened public attention, including elections, major crises and significant policy debates, provide fertile ground for information attacks. Organisations can quickly find themselves drawn into rapidly evolving narratives, where false information spreads faster than facts and public confidence can be damaged before the truth has a chance to catch up.

This practical live online workshop examines how modern disinformation campaigns operate, why AI has fundamentally changed the information landscape and how organisations can build effective defences against both deliberate manipulation and widespread information pollution.

You'll learn how to recognise emerging threats, assess credibility, respond without amplifying false narratives and use AI responsibly as part of your own verification and monitoring processes.

Whether you work in the public sector, business, consultancy or the not-for-profit sector, you'll leave with practical frameworks and tools to help your organisation remain resilient in an increasingly contested information environment.

We explore

 • The technology shifts – from synthetic media and voice cloning to AI-powered bot networks and algorithmic amplification alongside the countermeasures such as AI-enabled detection and verification tools.

 • The organisational imperative – why every board and executive team needs disinformation scenarios embedded in their crisis planning and risk registers.

 • Practical strategies – how to build resilience, monitor signals, and design a response plan that minimises harm and restores trust quickly.

 • Case examples – examining recent incidents where AI-fuelled disinformation has disrupted politics, business and society.
