Humans at Work: Supporting Internal Communication with AI
AI arrived at speed and changed work.
It has automated tasks, disrupted roles, altered workflows and transformed the way organisations communicate internally and externally. Along the way, it has brought extraordinary capability, considerable confusion and more than a little chaos.
Internal communication sits right in the middle of it.
Practitioners are navigating restructures, role reductions, changing organisational cultures, shifting workplace expectations and growing pressure to automate more of their own work. At the same time, they are expected to help people understand what is happening, support change, maintain trust and relationships and advise leaders on decisions that directly affect the employee experience.
Humans at Work – Supporting Internal Communication with AI, takes a measured look at where we are now.
We will explore how AI can support internal communication, from research, analysis and planning to employee insight, content, workflow and decision support. We will also examine what happens when enthusiasm for automation overtakes consideration of the people affected by it.
That means confronting questions around job displacement, trust, organisational culture, surveillance, privacy, bias, ethics and changing expectations of employees, as well as the consequences of cultural and policy shifts inside organisations.
Throughout the session we will experiment with current AI tools and applications, consider what they can usefully do and identify where human judgement, understanding and relationships remain essential.
The approach is practical, productive and occasionally pointed. Above all, it is designed to strengthen the capability practitioners need to help their organisations navigate an AI-shaped workplace while using the technology to support people rather than simply replace them.

Designed with you in mind
Internal communicators have a unique and vital role in our profession. Great internal relationships mean great external relationships are possible. If internal communications fails, everyone is affected inside and outside the organisation. Yet internal communication is often an afterthought, under-budgeted and under-resourced. It's not unusual to have a 'one person team' looking after everything and everybody. That's why our internal communications training series are always designed with you in mind. We understand the constraints, the pressures (and the politics) and we hope the sessions help you access the training and recognition you need to deliver expert advice and quality service.
