Responsible AI puts people first

Artificial intelligence has transformed the way we live, work and interact, all at extraordinary speed. We already know what AI is capable of. The more urgent question is whether we can apply our own human intelligence, judgement and leadership to ensure advancing technology serves the betterment of all.

Most of today's AI conversations are dominated by speed, profit and the pursuit of technological supremacy with a hard focus on capability, productivity and the latest shiny tools. 

Another more urgent, but less heard conversation has been taking place around the world: a conversation about ethics, governance, transparency, accountability, public trust and the long-term consequences of the choices we make today.


Across organisations, countries and cultures, women working at the forefront of AI, public relations and communication consistently return to these themes. They ask difficult questions, challenge assumptions and explore how AI can strengthen relationships, reduce harm and serve society. They recognise that AI is not neutral. Bias and discrimination is embedded in systems that influence everything from recruitment and surveillance to healthcare, financial services and criminal justice.

Women and other vulnerable communities are already disproportionately affected by harms including deepfakes, algorithmic bias, exclusion and the denial of opportunity, support and care. Where these were once risks, they are now today's realities, demanding thoughtful leadership alongside technological innovation.

Too often, those voices are drowned out by the people building, selling and promoting the technology.

Sensemaking AI exists to change that.

It amplifies the expertise, insight and leadership of women shaping the future of AI in public relations and communication. Through a growing collection of conversations, contributors share their experience, perspectives and practical wisdom, creating a resource for everyone committed to ensuring AI serves people and purpose, rather than profit and the pursuit of power.
